It's the calm before the storm, I don't think the realisation of just how much I've got to get done before I head off to Florida on Thursday has really sunk in yet. I've been bumbling about the internet checking out what films Virgin Atlantic are currently showing and general musings that really could wait until another time, but I really can't wait to head over to Tampa Bay in Florida for the Front End Design Conference this Friday.

I believe there are still a few tickets going spare so if you are in the area and fancy seeing Larissa Meek, Jina Bolton, Meagan Fisher, Lea Alcantara, Niki Brown, Adelle Charles and myself talk to you about various web related (or iPhone related in my case) topics then head on down, it's going to be a brilliant day in a lovely location of the Hilton Hotel in Tampa Bay, and yes, it's an all female speaker line up!

*insert sharp intake of breath here and await various comments about male/female segregation in the industry*

Yes that was a joke, been there, done that 😉

I'm the only one coming from across the pond so I feel really honoured to be a part of this conference. I am really looking forward to the sessions, each and every one of them sounds brilliant and captivating, I saw an opening slide preview of Meagan Fisher's talk on her blog and it looked beautiful.

The only thing I'm worried about, and believe me it's a stupid worry. Whenever I've flown to the States I've found a few hours after landing I've got really bad motion sickness, never to the point of actually being sick but I feel like I'm still on a plane and the ground seems to move side to side making me dizzy and sicky feeling. If anyone has come across this before and has found a remedy, please let me know before Thursday! It always goes away after a nights sleep but I'd prefer to actually make the speakers dinner the night before!

If you are coming to the Front End Design Conference, please be sure to come over and say "Hi" to this Brit!

Hope to see you there!

[…] genesis of the idea started at this years Front End Design Conference. My favorite talk was by Sarah Parmenter who talked about iPhone app design. In one small bit of her talk, she mentioned not repeating […]
I’ve read that ginger and acupressure may help w/ your motion sickness. I personally don’t get motion sick when flying, but I sometimes get jet lag on longer flights. Try doing a quick workout when you arrive at your hotel – doesn’t even have to be in the gym, a bodyweight workout should be sufficient. Good luck and have fun in Florida!

I’m flying in from the western part of Canada, so I have a pretty ridiculously long journey too. (Getting up at 3 am on Thursday to catch a flight. AAA!) I can’t wait to meet you. I’m a Virgo, too. 😉

Hi Sarah,
I’ve been following you on Twitter for I think a year or more, and I’ve come to appreciate your take on design. So I’m excited to get to hear you speak in my neck of the woods. I really enjoyed Front-End last year, and this years line up looks like it will be another great year for the conference. Do you plan on attending the after party or the events on Saturday and Sunday? Always cool to meet the speakers at the later events.
Hi Greg,
I’m pleased to speak in your neck of the woods, it’s an honour.
I plan on attending the events on Saturday so I’ll definitely be about.
See you there!

Go straight to a bar and drink to solve the “swaying”… Or well that way you can’t tell if it’s the plane or the alcohol 😉
I look forward to the conference and I’ll try to look for you to say hi 🙂
I’m looking forward to the conference and to hearing and meeting you Sarah. Dan did a great job putting the conference together last year, and I have no doubt it will be equally as good this year.
Hope you have a safe and enjoyable flight here. Oh, and a word of warning, you might notice a slight increase in temperature here. 🙂
What are you saying Brian? Is England not renown for its hot weather then? 😉
Touché, will bring the suncream.
Good luck. I just got back from Florida, beware, it’s Hot. Very Hot.
